The Green Rural Redevelopment Organization (GRRO), in proud partnership with the Duke University Rural Health Equity Hub, is thrilled to host a special celebration for National Rural Health Day on Thursday, November 20, 2025. This event honors the vital contributions of rural communities and the health champions who serve them, shining a light on the resilience, innovation, and power of rural North Carolina.

The official celebration will take place at the GRRO Headquarters, located at 300 W. Parkview Drive, Henderson, NC. The event will highlight the ongoing work of rural clinicians, organizations, and advocates who are driving community health and well-being forward.

As part of the day’s celebration, GRRO in collaboration with the Vance County Regional Farmers’ Market and the Central & Eastern Food Bank of NC will also host a Rural Health and Wellness Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market, 210 Southpark Dr., Henderson. This interactive fair will feature over thirty local and regional community organizations offering resources, screenings, free flu shots, health education, and wellness services aimed at supporting the holistic health of the community.

“National Rural Health Day was founded by the national organization of the State Office of Rural Health. It’s about honoring the people and places that sustain the Power of Rural,” said Henry Crews, Executive Director of GRRO. “We are proud to celebrate the providers, partners, and residents who are creating a healthier, more vibrant future for our rural communities. GRRO is all about ‘Rural’ and we’re grateful for the people and organizations that are helping us make this work possible."

Local media are encouraged to attend and share in this moment of recognition and community engagement. The event offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the strength of rural collaboration and the innovative work being done to improve access to care and health equity across the region.
